The American Trucking Associations celebrated a victory last week as the Dodd-Frank bill was signed into law by President Obama. The major cause for celebration, an exemption from mandatory clearing requirements in the derivatives trade. This allows non-financial entities the ability to still conduct their business outside of the clearing houses.

As you may have noticed, diesel prices have dropped significantly since 2008. The price per gallon for diesel recently dropped another 3.2 cents, leaving the national average at $2.92 per gallon. However, the Department of Energy recently released a report stating that the price of diesel is projected to rise in 2011 to an average of $3.13 per gallon.
