C.R. England, Cargo Transporters announce driver pay increases

Cargo Transporters

Two of the nation’s largest fleets – C.R. England and Cargo Transporters – announced pay increases for over-the-road and regional drivers this week.

C.R. England (No. 22 on the CCJ Top 250) raised pay for solo, teams, and trainers in its national, regional, and training divisions by a minimum of 2 cents per mile.

Chad England, C.R. England CEO, says drivers will see between 2 and 7 cents-per-mile increases, effective Thursday, Jan. 31. Coupled with an increase last summer, drivers in these divisions will have seen total increases between 6 and 15 cpm, England adds.

Based on a driver’s experience and location, England says a three-month driver with the company can earn between 46 and 60 cpm.

Cargo Transporters (No. 180) also announced a 2 cpm pay increase for solo OTR drivers on all dispatched miles, along with a 1 cpm increase for team and regional drivers on all dispatched miles. The increase will go into effect on March 31.

The company says it pays its drivers based on Practical Route miles rather than Household Goods shortest miles, which is the industry standard. Practical Route miles are typically 8 percent higher than HHG miles, the company notes.
