Diesel Prices Drop – Will they continue to fall?

Diesel, drop, fall, oil, price, Trucking

As you may have noticed, diesel prices have dropped significantly since 2008. The price per gallon for diesel recently dropped another 3.2 cents, leaving the national average at $2.92 per gallon. However, the Department of Energy recently released a report stating that the price of diesel is projected to rise in 2011 to an average of $3.13 per gallon. This latest news was released by DOE on Tuesday. The chart below will give you an idea of recent trends of diesel fuel costs. As you can tell by this and other charts released by DOE, diesel fuel costs have held fairly steady over 2008-2009.
The future of diesel prices could be affected by several factors including increased demand on the trucking industry in the upcoming year, and potential restraint on U.S. offshore drilling.
